Support-A-Child Research TripOur Support-A-Child Director Sarah Bromfield recently returned from an extended trip to the North-East of Thailand to identify more children to be added to our SAC program with translation assistance provided by the Disaster Tracking Recovery Assistance Center (D-TRAC). We were able to identify a multitude of children residing in Surin and Buriram provinces, which are along the Thai-Cambodian border, who lost parents to the tsunami and have received minimal if any aid. With the loss of their parents the children, who live with grandparents or other extended relatives, are unable to afford many of their basic needs including schooling, medical care, and adequate food/shelter. This area of the country tends to be one of the most impovrished and underdeveloped; with little industry most people devote themselves to agriculture even though the region is regularly afflicted by drought. If you are interested in sponsoring one of our children we invite you to complete our online SAC Sponsorship Inquiry form located here. |
